April 2016 Featured Artists

Christian Kolle – It all boils down to repetition and reliability. When you are an artist creating complex motions, the repetition becomes only familiar when you are familiar with all the movements. Choreography is repetition on a grander scale, though he theorizes that it is a bigger aspect of being an artist. There’s no time for boredom, we do have time for the interesting. Christian refuses boredom, drills bore, he operates the drill.

Das Frank – a tattooer, painter and Captain of Industry in Las Vegas. He can be found most days cooling his heels with the talented crew at Timeless Tattoo. Das Frank’s style shows his love of finding the inherent humor and beauty in even the darkest of subjects. While he was in the MFA theater program at UNLV, the opportunity to learn to tattoo was thrust upon him. Challenge accepted, he never looked back. Part sweet, part sour, part fragile little flower.

Yvette LaForce – an Abstract Expressionist, she was born an artist. Painting her way to sleep at night as a child using only her little fingers as brushes. Making her canvas as wide as her arms could reach. She found that painting was much easier for her to do than to communicate verbally. Selling her first painting in high school gave her the knowledge that she could be paid for her works. The most intense and fascinating time in her life, as an artist, was when she was accepted by Knox Martin, to paint directly under him at the Art Students League in New York City. Yvette is now back in her hometown of Las Vegas Nevada. The beautiful place where she was born and raised.

What better way to celebrate art than to honor the artists ability to share themselves with the world. In ancient times March was the beginning of the calendar, a stormy month when growth starts and the world is soon to be draped with beauty and new life. It is like an early spring in Las Vegas and the events planned in the 18b will be on point, come see us at the RedRoom.

Jana’s RedRoom wlll be featuring 3 artists that personify their creativity in their own terms.

Su Limbert – “Site specific installations explore the impact of civilization on the natural world and the contradictions of the human condition through evocative storybook narratives. Her multidisciplinary installations incorporate sculpture, drawing, painting, and ceramics.”

Tankbilt – ” I have managed to slip the grasp of insanity through the expression of art. My work is rarely political, nor does it frequently carry a heavy message. Rather, I create to expand the horizons of what society perceives to be possible or beautiful.”

Sean Jones – “Overstimulated by modern popular culture, my work has often attempted to find stimulating connections between diverse realms of high and low art. Feeding on the collective media memories of generations raised on film, popular music, and television, I attempt to create a fresh experience for the viewer and their relationships with their contemporary iconography.”
